Other Great Program Offerings
- Annual celebrations such as the Egg Drop science project, Dia de Los Muertos,
Career Day, Martin Luther King Day assembly, Lunar New Year, Read-a-Thon, Young Author’s Day,
International Arts Celebration with Hamilton International Middle School and Field Day
- Multi-age interaction and support such as Reading Buddies; “Roots of Empathy” (see below)
and “Steps to Respect” programs; “Special Friends” senior citizens
who provide mentoring and support; and tutors and mentors from the University of
Washington, America Reads and local high schools
- "Roots of Empathy" program launched in John Stanford Internation School 5th grade classes. For more

building, including Internet 2 capability; a ratio of 1:5 computer/students per class; a
32-computer lab; 10 computers in the library; and an array of projectors, laptops and
