Progress Update on the Renovation Project

Our June 2010 End of Year Fundraising Challenge totaled over $29,000 towards playground renovation.  Thank you to all of our generous donors & the JSIS PTSA!   We met our goal and raised enough money to buy and install a new climbing structure.  (SEE PHOTO BELOW)
 
What's Happening with the Renovation?

 

The Playground Action Team has successfully contracted with a local company, WS Contractors LLC, to renovate the southwest corner of the playground in preparation for the new net climbing structure.  Construction of the play space & new west entrance will begin October 4th.   The construction period will last 6 weeks and we plan to have the net climber installed in November and to host a work party to spread play chips.

 

Please help make the renovation go smoothly and safely during the first few weeks by minimizing your families' time around the construction.  Our playground will be fenced off by the general contractor and most of the area will not be open for play Oct 4-8.  Please drop off your kids as close to the 9:20AM bell as possible AND follow the signs that redirect foot traffic around the playground.  In addition, we are looking for parents who can volunteer at recess times during week of Oct 4th. 

 

 

We Need Parents!

 

The Playground Action Team needs new members.  A few parents have been working on playground activities for 3 years and are ready to retire.   This is a very rewarding volunteer opportunity as you help shape the strategy for future playground upgrades. We are looking for the following individuals to help out several hrs/month:

 

Project Manager Types - help manage & schedule future renovations for the playground

Grant Writers/Fundraising Support - help find money for future needed improvements

Communication - help message playground news and events; easy Web site updates

Accounting/Finance Coordinator - help track funds and monitor budget
