Dear JSIS Families and Friends,
The Playground Action Team has been busy planning major playground improvements and we are asking for your help today. We need the financial support of the entire JSIS family by July 1st so we can fund the purchase and installation of the Net Climbing Structure this summer.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Ø PLEASE DONATE ANY AMOUNT! JSIS PTSA will match dollar for dollar up to $10,000.
Ø Donate by check - Please send your tax-deductible donations to:
JSIS PTSA, 4057 5th Avenue N.E., Seattle, WA 98105.
Make checks out to JSIS PTSA and write ‘PLAYGROUND’ on your check.
JSIS PTSA is a nonprofit with Tax ID 94-3084553, we welcome company match donations, please see Web site for details: http://jsisweb.com/playground/FAQ. All donations will be acknowledged on the JSIS website.
Ø Ask your neighbors, friends and grandparents to donate.
Ø Get involved and help the Playground Action Team with our Summer construction plans!
WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED
Ø Relocated the northeast corner fence and installed removable volleyball system.
Ø Resealed playground asphalt and awaiting sunny weather to paint new playcourts.
Ø Developed Phase 1 construction plan and received approval from Seattle Public Schools.
Ø Secured financial donations of $63,000 for construction which includes $15,000 from Department of Neighborhoods, $25,000 from LSA and $23,000 from JSIS PTSA.
WHAT’S NEXT
Ø Before July 1st: We need $30,000 to install the new net climbing structure this summer.
Ø We need an additional $50,000 to finish Phase 1 Playground Renovations which includes:
- Replace existing ramp near the current play structure with built-in concrete benches.
- Bike racks and new west entrance.
- ADA/stroller accessible pathway and picnic tables.
WHY WE NEED IT
Ø Our playground is already too small. The space can be better utilized to support our student body – which is increasing this fall!
Ø The net climbing structure offers diverse play opportunities and is designed to challenge students to develop upper body strength and coordination.
Ø By completing playground renovations in the summer, we can avoid safety concerns, additional construction costs or delays, and restricted access for students.
In celebration of play,
Kim Lokan Kelly Aramaki Ann Weber
The Playground Action Team JSIS Principal JSIS PTSA President
